Halloween on Saturday, Día de los Muertos on Sunday. That's a whole lot of photos for one weekend, and your phone will pick the worst moment to pop up “Storage Almost Full.” Usually right when your friend finally stops moving.
It means the phone has almost no room left. Not broken. Just stuffed, like that kitchen drawer with the takeout menus.
Clear room tonight, not Saturday
- Find the hog. iPhone: Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Android: Settings > Storage. It's usually videos, a giant group chat, or an app you opened once.
- Back up, then offload. iCloud with Optimize iPhone Storage keeps smaller copies on the phone; Google Photos has a Free up space button for photos it already saved. Check the backup actually finished first.
- Empty Recently Deleted. Deleted photos hang out there for a while, still eating space.
- Kill the screenshot pile. You know the one.
When full isn't the whole story
A packed phone can feel slow, and the camera may refuse to record. But if you cleared real space and it still restarts by itself, freezes, or swears it's full when it plainly isn't, that's worth a look. We come to you across Barrio Logan, National City, downtown and Chula Vista. Just back it up before we show up.
